Luisa Medjeralli – Contemporary Photographer and Visual Artist

The stories we carry with us despite ourselves.
The inherited silences.
The forgotten gestures we repeat without understanding.

Through photography and visual research, I explore the invisible mechanisms that shape identity: embodied memory, silent heritages, and the transmission of narratives.

My work focuses on what persists beyond the visible event. Bodies, spaces, and objects become the sites of an intimate archaeology, unearthing the traces of memory from the women of my lineage—transforming the familial motif into a universal field of inquiry.

Within a refined visual language, balanced between documentary and fiction, I construct images that question the relationship between presence and absence.

Photography thus becomes a space of tension, an attempt to map the impalpable and render visible that which is transmitted without ever being named.
